In a world where supermodel gorgeous is the norm, natural beauty is considered ugly. Such a world is the setting of the “Uglies” trilogy by Scott Westerfeld. The three books in the trilogy are Uglies, Pretties, and Specials. Each title is the next step in the social hierarchy of the city.
The books take place in the not-so-distant future. After today’s society, known as “Rusties” for their incredible wastes and high metal structures, destroy themselves a new way of thinking arises: If everyone is equally beautiful and kept under control, the wars and wastes of the Rusties could be avoided.
Their system was simple. Until a child turns 16 they are referred to as an ugly. Slight imperfections in any part of one’s physical appearance are seen as ugly. The people of this civilization do not see natural beauty. They separate uglies and pretties into their own separate cities. But at age 16 everything changes. Teens undergo an operation that surgically modifies them to the concept of “perfect beauty.”
The main character of the trilogy, Tally Youngblood, starts out like any teen in Uglyville. She cannot wait for her sixteenth birthday and the operation. A few months before she is to turn sixteen, Tally meets Shay and they find they have the same birthday. But Shay could not have been more unlike Tally. She, for some reason totally incomprehensible to Tally, did not want to undergo the operation. Shay wanted to risk her life outside of the city.
Problems arise when Shay runs away. The city officials offer Tally a terrible choice: Either go into the wild and find Shay or never turn pretty, ever. Tally embarks on a life-changing journey through nature as it has evolved naturally in an attempt to find “The Smoke,” a colony of people who have chosen to remain ugly.
Each book leaves you on the edge of your seat, craving more and thankfully all three books in the trilogy are now available. Pretties deals with Tally’s life in New Pretty Town. Now mesmerizingly gorgeous from the high-tech surgery that everyone in this dystopian future receives at age 16, Tally and her friends have no obligations beyond partying. Being pretty includes being pretty-minded: 'empty and lazy and vapid,' pleasure-focused, with everything seeming 'vague and fuzzy.’ But just when she thinks her life cannot get any better, she is reminded of her ugly past and a promise forgotten, and everything seems to come crashing down.
Specials, the trilogy’s conclusion, brings an abrupt end to Tally’s innocence. She has undergone another operation that has transformed her into a wolf-like super-fighter. Her and many of her friends from her pretty days have become the “Cutters,” a younger division of “Special Circumstances” that cut themselves to bring the world into sharp focus. Their only mission is to bring down the runaways who have chosen to stay ugly. Tally finally has the chance to destroy the Smoke forever, but will she listen to the faintest instinct of her past or go along with what she’s been programmed to do?
This book series is one of the best I’ve read in awhile. It provides a fictional story that ties in some themes that are very important to high schoolers. The message is that natural beauty should never be underestimated. Love yourself for who you are. I give the “Uglies” trilogy by Scott Westerfeld 5 out of 5 stars.

so anyway today: morning bus: listened to "right before your eyes" on my cd and pushed the button to engage the shield! 1st track argh...36.5 forgot to do my locker duty 7th Peer Ed meeting...RETURN OF THE MARY WANNA SONG! tried to stall but ended up in millso again taking notes on whatever that place in europe is...ooh! scandanavia!! oui i remembered! 2nd updated my folder...parker got pissed at zach (again :roll: ) and we watched a movie while i got the notes i missed whenever iwas absent. 4th quote: "Bonds of Unity was great....American Riversongs.....was AWESOME!....Peregiun..." *groans and giggles from the penut gallery* ya get the piccy!? so we worked on that and then did the other songs too 5th did math homework for rutho hailey"doyoyya!" 6th didnt do our powerpoint but watched some cool ones...no offense but rayzoro's was like a lecture 3rd checked homework and got singled out by bitchy rutho! afternoon bus listened to "right before your eyes"

Well okay when I woke up today i went and played Windwaker with Ian and Colton cuz i was bored. I remember where I first came up with the name Amaya that is now being used in Unknown Destiny!! It was last year in a story I wrote for Double Double You!! And I think it's still on her computer! Yeesh! I will find it and see if it triggers anymore weird memories as to to why these names are so strangely similar to their meanings in the movie!
Well I woke up today ate breakfast did chores and then worked on powerpoint with Jenna. Look at my "Pajamas!" lol don't ask I finished it up five minutes after she left and then i got bored. I went back and played oboe for 20 minutes and talked to jordan...*edit* hehe amy doesn't know what an away message is so she keeps IMing me even when i have it on :lol: sorry i shouldnt be laughing cuz shes only 8. Well i forgot again and I have to wait to eat my junior mints till tomorrow :( but thats okay...i must finish soon...ian borrowed windwaker from colton and i must finish!! waa!

well weird day today... Morning Bus: Had another day of attacking cars and made L.E. Get out of my seat OUI! then i pushed the "stop" button to engage the "protection" sheild against the cars! 1st: Track and field: umm..well it was fun...i lost in my event (got like 4th in my heat) then me, lindsey, michael, sarah, jasmine, marle and brandon had "pigeon poop" all over our faces. which was fun! then caitlins mom got a popsickles!! it turns out also we tied!! so i spent the rest of the day writng: GOLD IS THE REAL WINNER on everyones hands. 4th: played american riversongs...got 120 minutes for my practice report...and figured out we're playing shenandoah the same song we're singin in chorus!! :shock: weird!! so i told mz smithey at the end of class hehe! 5th: found my gold marker and wrote on ppls hands...got mad at prohaska and annoyed rosie and brandon! 6th: weird states questions...hmm...and spelling questions...hmm 7th: got assigned "wow" another project! so im workin with zoe miller and we is makin a magazine! Afternoon Bus: talked about "stuff i am not supposed to know about" with kelsey i will say no more! Now: michael the evil one blocked all of my 5 screen names and steve has gone insane...im me for details but hes off his rocker :roll: to put it "nicely"

Well I got kicked off internet until further notice at home so i have to blog at school...good thing we have CCC in waajo! even though i am supposed to be working on a powerpoint sorry! well today was fun. i wrote another controversial thing...and now i am getting weird looks from people because i wrote it about the Passion of the Christ. well i is sorry if i dont believe the same things you do!!! thats my decision not yours...then i came up with a list of possible brandons/justins and tomorrow i will show ms granse the idea for the poster so yeah. we may have a bradon/justin by the end of next week at the latest!! :D lets see...umm well mills was mills boring as usual and band was fun as usual (why dont people like band??) oh well umm michael kept staring at me when i wasnt looking :evil: umm and thats about it...he just cant lose an arguement...geez and always has to start one "why do you call it a webbie? that's stupid and annoying" oh well :roll: poor kid! umm ok waajo is coming buh bye nowz!
Does anyone know why Michael Roane is "shunning" me?? It's really weird because he blocked me yesterday and then this morning I saw his screen name and when i asked him why he blocked me he just blocked me again. Then when I got off the bus today I saw his car in front on the rees's house and when they drove by his mom waved but he just sat in his seat with his "everything is going oposite the way i want it to" look, which is upsetting to look at. I dunno he has a stick up his butt about something, it may have been partially to do with him quitting UD but I dunno...could someone please try to talk to him and ask him why he suddenly hates me? his screen name is "hsgb101" and if that doesnt work I know two others that no one is supposed to know about...ask me for em if he blocks you thanks!

I had a dream that I used one of Celia's words and then I was shunned by the rest of the world. even when i went to australia...it was strange...then i ended up on some tour in the desert and suddenly this guy in our bus falls out and onto the ground. well last evening while the munchkins destroyed my living quarters without my knowledge, I sat down in the spacious space where the computers are kept and finally finished writing the Unknown Destiny II synopsis. and here it is: Disclaimer: before you read this know that you may not understand the plot unless you read the script for the original Unknown Destiny I which is at this site click here
Unknown Destiny II: The Eternal Phoenix After swearing that he would avenge Rachel's death, Brandon starts hanging out with a new crowd of people at school. Unknown to Alexia or Justin though, Brandon is always watching them, waiting for his chance to strike. Then one day a new girl comes to school, a girl baring an odd resemblence to Bella, thinks Alexia. Immediately, weird things begin to happen. Darcy, as the new girl calls herself, goes and sits with Brandon alone, and all they do is talk. Secondly, Justin and Alexia's crystals start glowing in an odd fashion. Then one day, Brandon magically wakes up in Darcy's house; which bares an odd resemblence to Bella's lair. There Darcy reveals that she really is Bella, and reveals also her plan for Alectria's and Sarpos's demise. She gives Brandon an upgraded crystal. He gives her back his old one, but refuses to give up Rachel's crystal that he kept. Right after that, Alexia wakes up from a nightmare and calls Justin. She tells him about the dream, in which Bella was somehow alive and that she is planning an ultimate war of darkness and light that will forever decide the fate of the galaxy. Amaya and Mae, call them to the Universal Core to discuss it. Amaya seems to have no plan of action, but Mae has one idea. The Eternal Phoenix crystals as she calls them, would give them the power to imprison Bella and Thirae in the Fiery Pit of Darkness, where it is literally impossible to escape, but it would come at a terrible price. The one who uses the power, must retain it and use it to guard the Fiery Pit of Darkness. Justin and Alexia decide at the time that it would be too much of a burden and are not willing to take it on. The next scene is Mae and Amaya addressing the council. They make the council aware of the situation at hand and request that atleast one faerie from each household join in the fight. Meanwhile, Bella takes it upon herself to call upon the Minions of Dark Universal, the most hideous creatures in the universe. One final school scene, Justin is walking to his seat at lunch and when he passes by Brandon and Darcy's table, Brandon grabs him and slings him to the ground. "You and Alexia will pay for what you did to Rachel once and for all!" he screams, "At the stadium, tonight, bring whatever you wish but you will not defeat us!" Darcy and Brandon then quickly run out of the lunchroom. Alexia runs to Justin's aid and helps him up. They walk out of the lunchroom. Amaya and Mae meet them on the overpass as it begins to get dark. Alexia and Justin transform, and suddenly the overpass is crowded with Universal Light Faeries. They slowly walk over to the stadium. The seats are packed with students who hear about the event at lunch. One side of the field is filled with the Minions of Dark Universal, then enter the Universal Light faeries led by Alectria. The battle rages, but the light seems to be at a loss as far a strength goes. Right as Alectria is about to give up seeing all of the killing and chaos around her, she looks over at Mae who is lying on the ground near her, "Give me the Eternal Phoenix crystal!" Alextria then completely changes costume and is completely revived. She goes over to Brandon and knocks him to the ground. Rachel's crystal flies out of his pocket and shatters when it hits the ground. A large stream of light fills the area and when it fades to normal it shows Rachel in a lavender gown holding a golden lyre with the shape of a Phoenix on it. Everyone is silent and then she speaks. "Thirae, we were on the wrong side the whole time. It was not Alectria's fault, my death; it was my own. If you change sides now the world can be put at peace and I can destroy Bella myself, and return to life. If not then this is the last you will ever see of me, for I am taking Alectria's place in guarding the Fiery Pit of Darkness. Thirae breaks into tears and returns to his Brandon state. Bella sees this as an opportunity to escape, but Rachel stops her and locks her into the pit of Chaos where no guardian is needed. Then slowly the rest of the faerie figures, both dark and light disappear until only Brandon, Rachel, Justin, and Alexia (in their normal forms) are left. The run to each other for a long embrace, and then walk home, forever changed by the events of the past two years and by their destiny which was no long Unknown, but was fully known and anticipated.

Lemme make something clear:: this was confusing *hint hint* a few people. The Journey and Lifousine or Something Like That are ORIGINAL synopsisis not ideas for UD2. That one will eventually find its was up here...

The Journey Sarabi and her little sister Leslie lived in uttmost happiness. Their mother and father were King and Queen of Calithica, so they could have whatever they wanted. One day, while the king and queen were away on business, and the two sisters were playing in the tower, a servent burst through the doorway. "Lady Sarabi, " panted the boy, "the Royal Messenger wishes to see you immediately! You as well, Miss Leslie!" The only time Willard the messenger needed them was to give them gifts sent by theirparents, but Sarabi saw the worry in the servent's eyes and dragged her little sister down the stairs to the great hall. Willard was waiting for them with a sad and worried look in his eyes. "A war has begun," he spoke softly, "Your parents are dead, and you must flee." Leslie's lip trembled as he continued, "You cannot travel as royalty, travel as refugees." She clung to her sister's arm. The servent boy held up some raggedy garments. "Go now before they get here!"
"They?" though Sarabi, "Who are they?"

Lifosine: Or Something Like That After saving Paul the Limo driver from an almost fatal cable car accident, unpopular Jamie Acr's life is turned upside down. Paul offers her unlimited limousine service and she takes up his offer. At the time she only has 2 friends, Kat and Adam. Adam has always secretly had a crush on Jamie, but she has never noticed because, coincidentially she has a crush on Andrew, the most popular guy in school. When Jamie takes Kat on a limo ride she immediately falls for Paul. Jamie admits during the ride that she likes Andrew. Kat orders Paul to drive to Andrew's house. They ask if he wants to go wing dancing with them. He says yes seeing the limousine in the driveway. They explain the whole story to him on the way. While Kat is dancing with Paul, Andrew pulls Jamie over to the side and asks if she'll be his girlfriend. She says yes and the next day at lunch Jamie is sitting with Andrew while he is bragging about the limousine to his friends and Jamie comments here and there. The next shot is Adam walking down an empty hallway, he almost turns the corners but he hears voices. It is the voice of Andrew talking to one of his friends. Adam hears that he is only going out with Jaime because of the limousine and that as soon as the excitement dies down he's going to dump her right in front of everyone! Adam suddenly sneezes and Andrew and his friend round the corner and grab him. They say that if he breathes one word to Jaime they will make Adam wish he was dead...dun dun dun!

3rd Ruth this gay partylike thing where we colored Pi symbols (i didnts) and listened to music...and I thought HEELYUM was bad...I had to try not to barf while listening to like 14 minutes of nonstop led zepplin :x :x :x :x it was soooo BAD!! Then we put in the heelyum cd and mr ruth said i could only play two songs and im like "well billy played 14 mintues of Led Zepplin" and hes like "well if youd like it better you could not play your at all so I was like whatever and played the Sugar Song and the Tale of the Hairy Boy
4th Haha fun stuff only like 20 people were there becuz of celebrations. so me and sarah were the only first flutes and on our semi solo things she didnt come in until after i started and it scared the crap out of me because i thot i was in the wrong place!! :lol:
5th Lunch then Freeman agh!! went outside and helped brandon glue shapes to make triangles
6th finished tkam and graded those evil worksheets
7th the old waajo sub that wore the blanket!!! we took a test that i did okay on considering i studied right before the bell rang. :D

1st pe didnt have to dress out again!!! took the test i missed (got a 95) then i went and walked around with ardina, paigo, el saajo, and rayzoro, and britzo. We kept pulling those minibunches of flowers off and throwing em in peoples hair until someone goes "Hey arent those poisonous" :shock: yah so then we stopped that then me and rayzoro tried to go kick the boys ball (soccer :roll: ) Hey zoe thy only have one big one so they have to share it!! :lol: :lol: then we went over to the bench and played titanic and celia fell on rayzoro and it looked...well...quite wrong!! :x bad image 3rd took my quiz i missed IN THE TEACHERS LOUNGE AGAIN! whoop whoop but no more hidden marbles and the sugar packets have not returned :( oh well then i did my drill sheet for the rest of the period...then to mills 7thgot an extension on the booklet thingy because id been absent. my ear started acting all wacky but i sat around and talked to otha zoe. (not razoro) about religion and stuff interesting that we had like the same views :D :D She is my person of the day! 4th band more about this wonderful summer camp i am unable to go to :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: but then we played bonds of awesome and american awesome songs 5th lunch talked about court verdits on drunk drivers and then in h/b went to cathey to study with hailey 6th took easy easy qwiz and watched TKAM: THE MOVIE!!! 2nd mah powerful powapoint rocked!! then we left my cd in there and when ryan h went to do his it was supposed to play his song from the file but instead it played my michael jackson song!!! waaaa! so someone screams out "its the michael jackson virus" and scott says to me "next is the child porn!" then near celia and other ryan they were like "sat prep: adam sandler is to 50 first dates as Michael Jackson is to '50 first graders'" whoot whoot! fun stuff then sam, zoe, and cooke played in hen and cow manuer for the rest of the period ewwwwwww :?
